1) Verify The License
The first thing to look for in a mold inspection professional in NY is that they are correctly licensed. This will defend you if something terrible happens during mold removal and mold restoration. This information is usually available on the company’s website, or you can check by calling their office.
Mold testing and inspection should pass a state-approved exam and one must have at least two years of experience in the field to obtain a license. Furthermore, they must be covered by liability insurance in an accident or loss to your property.
2) Request Referrals
Ask for a referral from someone you know who has recently had a mold inspection. If they’re willing to give you the name of their inspector, they probably had a good experience. Friends and family can provide referrals.
Just make sure to read the reviews thoroughly. You can also seek advice from your real estate agent or property manager. Some people are more brutal than others!
When speaking with people who have previously worked with mold testing and inspection teams, inquire about their experience and whether they would recommend the professional they used. This is an intelligent approach to obtain first-hand information that will assist you in making a decision.
3) Obtain Several Quotes
Get quotations from at least three distinct companies when you’re ready to contact inspectors. This will help make decisions on what mold testing and inspection costs.
Make sure to ask each company what their quote includes so you can compare properly. Inquire about any added charges that may be charged for things like travel or added hours spent on the job.
4) Inquire About Experience
Inquire with each company about the length of time they’ve been inspecting for mold and the number of inspected properties. You like to hire somebody with a lot of experience to know they’ll do a good job.
You can also inquire about the mold inspection team’s training. How did they learn to recognize mold? What type of ongoing training do they get to stay updated on mold inspection techniques? The more information you have about their experience and training, the better prepared you will be to decide.
In addition to experience, you should ensure that your inspector has the necessary credentials. Mold testing and inspection professionals in Nassau County can obtain certification from numerous organizations. Simply inquire with each company to see if their staff members are certified.
5) Inquire About The Inspection Procedure
Before you consider hiring anyone, inquire about their mold inspection process. How much time will it take? What kind of equipment do they have? The more data you have, the better equipped you’ll be when the inspection comes around.
When you’ve settled on a company in Plandome, NY, make sure everything is in writing. This contains the inspection fee, the project scope, and the completion date. This will protect you if something goes wrong during the mold inspection.
